1 Day Ngamba Island Tour

1 Day Ngamba Island Tour, Ngamba Island is a sanctuary for orphaned chimpanzees located on Lake Victoria, Uganda. The island covers an area of approximately 100 acres and is home to over 50 chimpanzees. It was established in 1998 by the Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust, in partnership with the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre and the Jane Goodall Institute. The aim of the sanctuary is to provide a safe haven for chimpanzees that have been rescued from poaching, habitat destruction, or the illegal pet trade.

Visitors to Ngamba Island can observe the chimpanzees from a raised platform during their feeding time or from a boat cruise around the island. The sanctuary also offers a unique opportunity for visitors to participate in the chimpanzees’ daily care, such as preparing their food and feeding them.

Ngamba Island is not just a sanctuary for chimpanzees but also a centre for research and conservation education. The sanctuary runs various programs to educate visitors and locals on the importance of protecting and conserving chimpanzees and their habitat.
