20 day Uganda Adventure Safaris

Wishing to spend some more days on an adventure safari to Uganda. The 20 days Uganda Adventure Safari will work for you. This trip suggests awesome adventures including very rewarding game drives, wild boat cruise, cultural visits, gorilla trekking and chimpanzee habituations, incredible white water rafting and bungee jumping among other adventures. On this Uganda adventure trip will have to visit several parks from Kidepo Valley National Park, to Murchison Falls National Park, Kibale National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This adventure safari trio starts from Entebbe and at Entebbe.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Uganda at Entebbe International Airport

The day you will arrive in Uganda via Entebbe International Airport, reaching at the airport, Early Trail Expedition representative will be ready to receive you. Just know that the representative will be your next driver guide to handle your trip for the rest of your holidays in Uganda. Then will check-in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Visit Ngamba Island and UWEC

This morning will visit the Ngamba Island to watch the orphaned chimpanzees. The Ngamba Island is an island in Entebbe which was reserved to host the orphaned, injured chimpanzees. When at the island will watch and get involved in feeding the chimpanzees. The island is an artificial sanctuary for treating and taking care of helpless chimpanzees. The island is accessed only with a boat ride which is about 10 minute cruise from the mainland. Then from the island will refresh with lunch and use this evening hours to visiting Victoria Mall and do shopping of everything you may need.

Day 3: This morning will drive to Kidepo Valley National Park

Today will embark on a drive to Kidepo Valley National Park. This is a long day of driving, meaning should start in the early morning hours. Along your drive will en-route to either Gulu or Kitgum town for lunch depending on the time. Then will proceed with a scenic drive to the park, will reach in the late evening hours. Check-in at your lodge, enjoy your dinner and relax off the exhaustion of the day.

Day 4: Kidepo Game Drive and Community Visit

Enjoy you first adventure moment with an experienced park ranger to guide you through the dwells of the park. Kidepo is among Uganda’s most rewarding national park with great encounters among which include; prides of lions, leopards, herds of elephants, buffalos, several antelope species, several bird species, zebras, giraffes and many other wild species. The drive will continue through the continuing scenic golden savannah alongside acacia woods. The game drive will last for at least 3 to 4 hours when enjoying the glance on the amazing dwells of the park.

Then, will return to your lodge for refreshment, enjoy your lunch and take an afternoon visit the Karamoja community. Here will enjoy the Karamoja narrations, and their lifestyle stories. There is dancing presentations of which you have to engage. Then will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Hike Mt Morungole to visit the IK people

This is a full day adventure which lead to the rare unique Ik people. Reaching to the IK community one has to hike this amazing isolated mountain Morungole reaching the Ik people who surface at the peak of the mountain. The hiking activity really will needs a certain level of fitness to walk over 12km to and from where you vehicle can’t continue any far.

Day 6: Transfer to Murchison Falls NP, En-route to Aruu Waterfalls

Today will take a drive to Murchison Falls National Park, while driving will en-route to the magnificent Aruu falls in Padar district along your route to Gulu. Then will drive via Gulu with lunch en-route and finally in the late evening hours will be at Murchison Falls National Park.

Day 7: Game Drive and Boat Cruise

Will have a packed breakfast and take an early morning game drive which is the only space to see sunrise arrays. It’s an amazing moment to encounter the wild under the arrays of the sunrise, imagine sipping and enjoying your breakfast under the legs of the sunrise. Just know that a game drive at Murchison is a germ of amazing things and expect to watch some of the Big Five animals (lions, leopards, elephants and buffalos). Larger schools of hippos at the delta, highest concentration of antelope species, towers of giraffes, warthogs, several bird species and a lot more. The game drive takes through several made driving trucks will all converge at the delta that has the highest concentration of animals.

After a game drive will relax, then after the lunch delicious served meals will embark for Victoria Nile Boat ride to the bottom of the World’s most powerful waterfalls. The boat ride takes about 2hours packed with views of various wildlife on the banks of the river, and aquatic life including monitor lizards, and crocodiles, several water birds, amazing features like cliffs among many encounters on the boat cruise. Then after will drive back to your lodge and relax for another day, dinner and overnight.

Mid-range: Pakuba Safari Lodge

Day 8: Visiting To of the fall and Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Today will take a hike to the top of the falls, the hike leads you to watch this amazing world’s most powerful waterfall from the top. The hike starts from the top of the falls where you have a chance to watch how these huge rapids thunderously force into a narrow gorge forming that astonishing roar of pouring. The moist view of the Murchison Falls from the top is accompanied with a hike through the Baker trail covered with nonstop falls roars.

Afterwards will take a direct drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary which is about 2 hours’ drive. This sanctuary is the only natural environment in Uganda to track the rhinos. The track is done on a walk and can last between 2 to 3 hours alongside other animals and bird species watching. Then will drive back to Masindi for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Transfer to Kibale National Park

Today will take a relaxed morning drive from Masindi to Kibale National Park via Hoima and Fort Portal. The drive to Kibale take about 5/6 hours, and reaching the park you will be exhuated for the day. Check-in at your lodge and take a rest the next long day. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 10: Chimpanzee Habituation

Alongside your energizing morning day break, packed with all your tracking gears will hurry to Kanyachu starting point for the day track. Chimpanzee habituation is a full day adventure where travelers head into the forest, search and follow the chimpanzees. When the chimpanzees are found, trackers have to spend about 4 hours with the apes. So, well prepared with packed eats, enough drinking water, wearing tracking gears. The chimpanzee habituation adventure is more than just a track but a full day spent with the apes. The habituation process is aimed at making the chimps used to human presence, these are known to be shy mammals which in most cases shy away in case of uncertainties. After the track, will return to the starting point, refresh and make your lunch. Then will rest at your lodge for the rest of the hours. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 11: Visit and Hike the Crater Lake

This is a greater day of experiencing heights. Will take a visit to one of the traditionally believed to be ancestral caves of the Bachwezi dynasty. Driving through Fort Portal will visit the Amabere Caves and take a Crater Lake hike. This is a cultural visit that tales about the ancient Bachwezi dynasty, this will take you to the cave under waterfalls, and finish the visit with a hike. This trail can last between 4 to 5 hours and then will refresh with lunch in Fort portal. The hike gives greater views of the Rwenzori ranges. Then will take your drive back to your lodge and relax.

Day 12: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth, En-route to Mt Rwenzori for half day hike

Take an early morning drive as you transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Along your drive will en-route to Mt. Rwenzori in Kasese and take a half Rwenzir hike through one of the simplest trials. The trail will lead you through plantation and communities and will have a real image of the Rwenzori people. Then will lunch en-route will take a drive of about 45 minutes reaching Queen Elizabeth National Park. Chech-in at your lodge for dinner and overnight

Day 13: Queen Game Drive and Wild Boat Cruise at Kazinga Channel

Today take a drive to Kasenyi section of Queen Elizabeth National Park for an incredible game drive. The meaning of driving with packed breakfast is to enjoy morning bloody sunrise with a bit, it’s very amazing. One of the rewarding game drive with variety of wildlife species including; elephants, Uganda kobs, bushbucks, buffalos, lions, warthogs among so many species to watch accompanied by several bird species.

In the afternoon hours with lunch en-route will drive to the Mweya peninsular, for a boat cruise on Kazinga channel. The wild boat cruise is an opening of watching more animals. Several animals are seen coming to the channel banks to draw water and the aquatic life seen either socked in water or lousily relaxed at water banks. Then, after will drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 14: Ishasha Drive and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

This day will take a morning drive through Ishasha sector, track the tree climbing lions. Ishasha sector is located in the southern location of Queen Elizabeth National Park and is a famous region in East African for hosting these amazing tree climbing lions. Then afterwards you board for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with lunch en-route. Will reach the park in the evening hours and enter the park via Buhoma gate. Relax, enjoy your dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 15: Gorilla Trekking and the Batwa Visit

This morning energize with morning breakfast, and hurry to the Buhoma starting point for trekking briefing. In a group of trekkers accompanied by an armed ranger guide will embark for a search for the gentle giants. This kind of Adventure is limited to the central African jewelry of Virunga Conservation Area and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The trek lasts for about 30 minutes to about 4 hours to find your assigned habituated gorilla family. The trek involves walking through the unmade paths, through moist thick jungle, hikes and slopes through hills and valleys and on finding the gorillas it’s a tiresome moment. But setting your eyes on the species, then you have to find out that all the tiresomeness is forgotten. Finding the gorilla, you will have strictly one hour before them, then will be walking back to the starting point. You will be very exhausted, you just need to drive back to your lodge and relax.

In the late afternoon hours, you will visit the Batwa community around the Buhoma community to have a feel of their real life. The Batwa people are known to be the forest dwellers who used to co-live with the gorillas before their eviction in 1991. The Batwa communities present traditional entertainments through dances, songs and stories. Then return to your lodge relax, have dinner and rest for the next day.

Day 16: Explore Lake Bunyonyi

Today in the morning will drive to this amazing and scenic Lake Bunyonyi. Spend the rest of your day exploring and enjoying the beautiful scenery of Lake Bunyonyi. You take a boat ride to some of the islands and the most interesting island is the Punishment Island due to its story related to being an execution island for girls with early pregnancy. Then you will enjoy the sweet melodies of so many small birds swing around your lodge. Today you will spend another night at Lake Bunyonyi.

Day 17: Transfer back to Kampala Capital

Today following your breakfast, will have a scenic and breathtaking drive from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park back to Kampala. Consider en-route for lunch in Mbarara or at the Equator in Kayabwe depending on the time. You reach Kampala in the evening hours, then you will chech-in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 18: Kampala City Tour and Visit Jinja city

Today enjoy a relaxed day in Kampala, after your morning breakfast take a city walk through downtown and crown it with a visit to Mengo palace and Bulange building. These are two significant building in the history of Buganda, Mengo palace is the official palace of the Kingdom and Bulange is the administrative block of Buganda kingdom. Then will take an evening drive to Jinja city reaching late and check-in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 19: White Water Rafting, Bungee Jumping

After enjoying your breakfast, then will take a drive with your rafting company to rafting point. The rafting at the source of the Nile will take a morning session, this amazing adventure makes you forget all the stressing moments finding yourself turning in the rough rapids. The rafting starts as a learning session with grade one which is suitable for bachelors. Rafting at the Nile is East African most exciting moment, and it’s a world class adventure which as well caters for advanced rafters with grad 4 and 5. Then with lunch en-route will take a moment to relax and later join boat cruise at the source of the Nile. The drive will lead to the point where the Nile waters are initiated for the longest journey which makes it the longest River in the world. The will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 20: Transfer back to Kampala, Entebbe and fly back home

Today relax at your lodge, and will take a drive back to Kampala, reaching Kampala by midday and take drive straight to Entebbe airport for your next flight back home.
