7 Days Uganda Rwanda safari, Enjoy the best of Uganda and Rwanda safaris in this special 7-Day tour. The 7 Days Uganda Rwanda safari combines gorilla trekking, chimpanzee tracking, and game viewing experiences. The remarkable primate destinations to explore include Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Kibale National Park (Uganda), and Volcanoes National Park (Rwanda). Queen Elizabeth National Park will be an area of focus for wildlife/game viewing tours- this is home to 4 of the big 5 game including the rare tree climbing lions.

Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala to Kibale National Park via Fort Portal tourism city

Start your journey early morning, driving through the scenic countryside via districts like Mityana-Mubende and Fort Portal. This will be 5-6 hours’ drive in a 4×4 tourist vehicle arrive early for lunch. Then get adequate to relax at the lodge or go for an afternoon guided walk in Bigodi Wetland. Bigodi/KAFRED offers a typical community-based tourism experience and on a walk. Expect to encounter amazing primates including vervet monkeys, colobus monkeys, and birds like great blue turacos.

Day 2: Kibale Forest chimps & Queen Elizabeth NP

Boasting of over 13 primate species including 1500 chimpanzees, Kibale National Park will be your area of interest for chimpanzee tracking. The chimpanzee trek begins with an early morning briefing about chimpanzee tracking guidelines at 7:00 am and you will start the trek at 8:00 am.

It will be a short walk of about 2-4 hours and includes one hour for observing chimpanzees’ behaviors and taking photos. Being home to a huge profusion of primates, you will also come across other primates like blue monkeys, red colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, l’hoest monkeys, vervet monkeys, baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, etc.

Return from chimp trekking and have lunch –check out of the lodge and you will be transferred to the lodge in Queen Elizabeth National Park for relaxation. Queen Elizabeth NP hosts over 95 mammal species, and 620 species of birds and reptiles.

Day 3: Explore wildlife in Queen Elizabeth NP (Uganda)

Begin your game drive early morning with an experienced guide taking the Kasenyi track. Plenty of early morning risers will be viewed along this game track as you explore it for 2-3 hours. The expected animal sightings along the Kasenyi Plains include bush elephants, cape buffaloes, lions, antelopes, hyenas, leopards, and bird species.

Return from the Kasenyi plains game drive, have lunch and at 2:00 pm, you will enjoy a launch or boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. The Kazinga channel launch cruise offers an excellent view of aquatic life such as hippos, crocodiles, and water birds.

Day 4: Ishasha-Bwindi N. Park

Enjoy a hot cup of tea/coffee and after, check out of your lodge ready to connect to the Ishasha sector for a short game drive. This is an area where tree climbing lions, topis and endemic birds will be spotted then you proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable NP.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking & travel to Volcanoes N. Park

Wake up early, enjoy a delicious breakfast, and at 7:00 am, gather at Bwindi National Park offices for a briefing session about gorilla trekking guidelines. Start an actual trek through the dense Bwindi Forest lasting for 2-6 hours’ drive. This includes one hour of watching face-face the mountain gorilla family and taking pictures. Return from the trek and get your participatory gorilla trekking certificate, then proceed to the lodge to check out.

Leave Bwindi Impenetrable Forest NP for Volcanoes NP located in Northwestern Rwanda. You will be crossing via the Katuna border and en-route, enjoy the beautiful view of the countryside in Uganda and Rwanda.

Day 6: Golden monkey/gorilla trekking (Volcanoes N/P)

Have a delicious breakfast early morning and after, leave with some packed lunch for your second gorilla trekking experience or this time round, go for golden monkey tracking in Volcanoes National Park. After interacting with mountain gorillas or golden monkeys, retreat and relax at the lodge. Late in the afternoon, visit the Iby’Iwacu village to enjoy a cultural tour experience.

Day 7: Kigali city tour & departure

A delicious breakfast will be enjoyed in your comfortable safari lodge and after, check out. Drive to Kigali city for about 2-3 hours and arrive early, embark on a city tour which includes visiting the Kigali genocide memorial center, craft shops, and many other historical sites. After the Kigali city tour, transfer to the airport for departure and this marks the end of 7 Days Uganda Rwanda safari.
