Therefore, this 1-day city tour takes you to some of Uganda’s magnificent destinations which include the independence monument, the owino market, old Kampala, and the museum. There are many other interesting places to visit and things to do, depending on your interests and preferences.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Have an early morning breakfast and be picked up by our guide who will brief you about the day’s itinerary and transfer you to the Independence Monument. The monument is an important symbol of Uganda’s history and struggle for independence and it features a sculpture of a man, woman, and child raising a torch towards the sky, signifying the hope and optimism of Uganda’s independence from British Colonial rule. The three figures also represent the diversity of Uganda’s population and the unity that was necessary to achieve independence
Uganda’s Independence Monument is a significant landmark located in the capital city, Kampala. It is a symbol of Uganda’s struggle for independence from British colonial rule on October 9, 1962. The Independence Monument is located in the center of Kampala, on Speke Road, and is surrounded by gardens and a fountain to flourish its beauty and national importance to the people of Uganda. It is a great spot for photography.

Transfer to Owino market.

Owino Market, also known as St. Balikuddembe Market, is one of the largest markets in Kampala, Uganda. It is a vibrant hub for trade and commerce, with a wide variety of goods on offer, including clothing, electronics, fresh produce, and much more. The market is filled with a sea of people and vendors, all bustling about their daily business. The market is divided into different sections, with each section specializing in different types of goods.
Among the sections include the clothing section, where you will find rows upon rows of vendors selling all sorts of clothes, from traditional African attire to Western-style clothing. You can find everything from shirts, dresses, skirts, and trousers to shoes, belts, and hats. The electronics section is filled with vendors selling a wide range of electronics, from mobile phones and accessories to laptops, cameras, and Televisions. You’ll find vendors hawking their wares from makeshift stalls and small shops, all eager to make a sale.

Then move to the food section, where you will find a colorful array of fresh fruits, vegetables, and spices. Here, you will be able to sample some of the delicious local produce and purchase some to take home with us. Finally, you will come to the crafts section, where you will find artisans selling handmade goods such as jewelry, baskets, pottery, and wood carvings. This is a great place to pick up unique souvenirs and gifts to take home.
As you wind your way through the market, you will be able to soak up the sights, sounds, and smells of this bustling hub of commerce. It’s a truly unforgettable experience that will give you a glimpse into the heart of Kampala’s vibrant culture and economy. You won’t miss a chance to taste local food like a local.

Transfer to Gadhafi mosque old Kampala.

After having lunch and a mini break  then proceed to Old Kampala for a religious tour of the Islamic Gaddafi mosque. Also known as the Uganda National Mosque, where you have a panoramic view of the city the mosque located in the heart of Kampala. The mosque commissioned by former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and completed in 2006. One of the largest mosques in Africa and can accommodate up to 15,000 worshippers at a time.

As you approach the mosque, you  struck by its impressive size and unique architecture. The mosque’s exterior adorned with white marble and features a striking minaret that tours the surrounding buildings. The minaret is 163 feet tall and offers stunning views of Kampala. As you enter the mosque, you  asked to remove your shoes and women will be required to cover their heads. Greeted by a spacious interior with a high domed ceiling and beautiful Islamic calligraphy adorning the walls.
The mosque has a large prayer hall that can accommodate thousands of worshippers at once. The hall is surrounded by dozens of pillars that provide support for the massive dome above. The mosque also has a separate prayer area for women. In addition to the prayer hall, the mosque has several other facilities, including a library, conference rooms, and a cafeteria. Transfer to the national museum.

The national museum will be the final destination of the day. The Uganda Museum is located in Kampala, Uganda, and is the oldest museum in East Africa. Founded in 1908 and has since become a major center for the preservation. And promotion of Uganda’s cultural heritage. The first exhibit you will come across is the ethnographic exhibition. Which showcases the cultural traditions of Uganda’s different ethnic groups. The exhibit features traditional clothing, tools, musical instruments, and other artifacts that provide insights into the daily lives and customs of Uganda’s diverse communities. You will learn about the unique cultures of Buganda, Busoga, Acholi, and other ethnic groups that make up Uganda’s rich cultural tapestry.

Moving on, you will come to the natural history exhibit, which features a wide variety of animal specimens, including birds, reptiles, mammals, and insects. The exhibit also explores Uganda’s geology and ecology, showcasing the country’s rich biodiversity and natural wonders. One of the highlights of the museum is the musical instrument gallery, which features a stunning collection of traditional instruments from Uganda and other African countries. Visitors can listen to recordings of traditional music and learn about the different instruments and their significance in Ugandan culture. Overall, the Uganda Museum provides a comprehensive overview of Uganda’s diverse cultural heritage and offers insights into the country’s unique identity and traditions.
